Spectacular was the adjective I meant to use for the partial Solar Eclipse which occurred between 06:24 and 06:47 IST at Chennai. Alas is the one I have to use instead. A smallish cloud cover, more haze than real water vapour, managed to obscure the Sun just as it ascended.
Still the scenery was one of the finest witnessed in a long time. Wisps of cirrocumulus provided a nice frame to the obscured Sun. A bit more of blue in the sky would have really made it a great picture, with the white cirrocumulus, the orange glow and the dark foreground coming together in contrast.
So here is the missing solar eclipse from Chennai skies. A couple of friends, later, told me they caught a glimpse of the eclipsed Sun, though they failed to capture the moment. Too bad. I guess the Sun did not want to be photographed from Chennai. All the same I hope tomorrow will a better day with clear skies, as the PSLV C32 is scheduled for launch from SHAR complex at 16:00 IST.
