Monday, the 08 February 2016, is the Thai Amavasya (தை அமாவாசை). In Sanskrit it is called the Makara Maasa Amavasya (மகர மாஸ அமாவாசை). As has become the practice, the Sankalpam for Thai Amavasya 2016 Tharpanam Procedure in Tamil is now online. Incidentally Sunday, 07 February 2016 is the Bhodayana Amavasya.
The particulars of both the Sankalpams have been updated in the Online Amavasya Tharpana Sankalpam Generator 0.7.5 beta. You can fill in the particulars and get the PDF file for free in your email ID.

ReplyDeleteHindu texts do not specify anything except Bharata Varshe, Bharatha Kande (everything else is common for Earth) - for any pujas/homams etc. It has become a fashion for people (priests) to /decide/say by themselves that America is so-n-so kande & so on, etc., and to add Missouri-Mississippi instead of Ganga-Kaveri, all FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE.
DeleteIn fact Hindu texts do NOT specify ANY for Southern Hemisphere - where seasons are exactly opposite to the Northern. Even today, ANY panchangs do NOT specify the date/time for Southern Hemisphere.
To go in deeply, Hindu Texts DO NOT go into even other Varshe, Khande - for the simple reason, that ONLY Baratha Varsha, and Bharatha Khanda is the KARMA Bhoomi. It leads to the conclusion that wherever you are on this Earth - you are South of Mouth Meru (meru'hu dakshine shakabde) and mentally, psychologically in Baratha Varsha, Bharata Khanda, and perform your duties.
This also resonates with what SriVidya Sprya says regarding the placing of 'Meru' in the home and doing pujas. The tradition / text is that the Meru will select/suit its own position, and irrespective of how the Meru itself is placed (as per its choice), the Bhaktha/Kartha should assume that he is sitting in front of Meru which is 'facing' West - even if physically the Karta is facing South or North.
The main thing is to find the exact timing of when the nakshatra/thithi occurs with respect to your own location - either in the northern or southern hemisphere and perform it at that time.
