Jurassic Park at my Main Gate

One of the most startling scenes, at least to me, was the appearance of the Dilophosaurus with this retractable neck frill in the first Jurassic Park movie.  The display of its neck frills, along with the hissing, as it attacks embryo thief Dennis Nedry, is truly electrifying.  The transformation from a harmless looking, squeaky dinosaur to a killer Dilophosaurus is a terrifying moment.  And I had such a stimulating moment today morning.

Out to fetch milk, I was busy unlocking the main gate of my apartment as usual.  It was a truly a frightening moment when I spied from the corner of my eye, something peeping - neck frills out, with two huge eyes - at me.  Truly, for a second, I felt like Dennis Nedry, though I was only venturing out for cold milk packets, and not frozen dinosaur embryos.

Slowly turning my eyes, I looked at the frilled neck apparition to discover it was just a house lizard or a Common House Gecko - though at home in the front yard.  What made the gecko, a fairly young one, appear as if it had a frilled neck was a moth it had hunted down a few moments ago.

All thoughts of fetching the milk, and the eagerly awaited cup of filter coffee fled my mind.  I rushed back to pluck my droid phone to try and snap a few pictures of it.  In the early morning light, many of them did not come out good.  But here are a couple, which would explain the jolt I experienced thinking about Dilophosaurus and frill-necked lizards, instead of the common house Gecko.

Here is the first snap, as the common house gecko became visible, giving me shivers about Dilophosaurus.

The second snap a few seconds later, as the common house gecko resenting my antics to photograph it, turned around to try and move away from me.

Notice the ‘eyes’ on the wings of the moth which really startled me.
