This sure must be a first, even by standards of Chennai. Very often in Chennai we find the spotted deer and blackbucks strolling around the surroundings of the Guindy National Park. The prohibitions on hunting or hurting them, coupled with abundant food inside the park has proved to a heaven for those ungulates.
In the past dogs have bitten some of the lost dee; killed and devoured, but what we will never find in Chennai is a deer strolling thorough a gun shop. The reason is simple, for we do not have (that many) gun shops in Chennai.

Even by US standards, a deer choosing a sporting goods store for a look through is strange. Whatever else they understand or not, they would instinctively know that their life is not worth much in a hunter's haven.
As if to prove that there are always idiots who break the mould, a deer in Reading, Pennsylvania walked into the Dick's Sporting Goods Store, and promptly slipped. No doubt it must have been staggering to see all those hunting weapons.

The deer was captured and released later, which proves that there really is a Deer God watching over them from the Happy Hunting Grounds.
