If the Delhi State Assembly election results were something startling and unfathomable, the meandering Tropical Cyclone 06B MADI is more curious still.
Remember the Low Pressure formed to the Southeast of Sri Lanka, in the Indian Ocean. Slowly it plodded up, drifting in a North-North-easterly direction. At times it practically was standing still, as written earlier in ‘Finally it is Tropical Cyclone 06B MADI’.
Crossing over the Sub Tropical Ridge at about 10 degrees North Latitude, it somewhat speeded up. Yesterday evening it was due East of Chennai, at a distance of roughly 485 Kilometres. Then she moved on and is at present due East of Nellore, which is approximately 160 Kilometres due north of Chennai.
In the normal course, we would expect the Tropical Cyclone 06B Madi to continue her wayward course, move in a northerly or northeasterly direction to make landfall at either Bangladesh or Myanmar.
But these days, many things seem to be abnormal in India - like the madness in Delhi elections where people have rejected the ruling Congress, but have not voted overwhelmingly for the opposition BJP, but to a rabble-rousing newcomer.
So it seems Tropical Cyclone 06B Madi is bent on taking a leaf out of the madness in Delhi and switch back towards the southern Tamil Nadu coast!
