Watch Anand-Carlsen Round-1 World Chess Championship 2013

Magnus Carlsen, almost a 100 ELO points ahead of the current World Champion Vishwanathan Anand, and playing the first game with White surely would have been disappointed.

The FIDE World Chess Championship underway in my hometown is a huge draw (pun intended).  Tickets have been sold out, and suddenly every kid around seems to be talking of Kings and Queen - though it will be a long wait before they can discuss the transformation from Nimzo to Queen’s Indian.
:-)

So what happened in the 1st round between Anand and Carlsen in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2013 on 09th November?

Here we have the FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, officially opening the match by moving Carlsen’s Knight (Nf3).

Since it is difficult to understand the notes like Nf3, here is a video of the moves.

A draw in only 16 moves, is what happened.  I am sure many will not understand the chess notations like Nf3 d5, which were the 1st moves by Carlsen (playing White) and Anand.

The PGN file for FIDE World Chess Championship 2013 match between Anand, V. and Carlsen, M. is uploaded into my Google Drive.  As is the standard practice, all the rounds’ data is inserted/filled up as the match progresses.  So, as the rounds unfold, I would endeavour to keep the file updated.

You can download the latest PGN file WorldChamp2013.pgn from the folder link here.  Note that the link is to a folder and clicking it will display the file with the option to download.
