Anand unable to break Carlsen’s Defence in R-07

Vishwanathan Anand has to settle for a draw in Round 7 of FIDE World Chess Championship yesterday at Chennai.

With only five more games left in the 12-game match, Carlsen retains his two point lead, 4.5-2.5 in favour of the Norwegian.  It looks as though Magnus Carlsen is destined to be crowned World Champion at Chennai.  This photo from the news conference sums it up best.

Video simulation and link to the updated PGN file are below.

After 15th move, it was like a blitz game and soon (starting with 20th move) both the Rooks were off the board, with only the Queen and Knight each left.  Thus it meandered off to a limp endgame with no chances for either side.

Anand changed a couple of more pawns and the draw was agreed to in just 32 moves vide repetition.
In the remaining 5 games Carlsen will get to play thrice with White, which makes it even more difficult for Anand.

You can download the latest PGN file WorldChamp2013.pgn from the folder link here.  Note that the link is to a folder and clicking it will display the file with the option to download.  Cheers!
Update: PGN file of Round 7 corrected 18:00 IST on 19th.  Earlier file tagged Anand with Black and Carlsen with White, instead of vice-versa.
