A Special Despatch by ‘M’ for the ‘F’ word

It seems movie producers will always have a tiff with the censor board or what goes for it in respective countries.  If it was Udhayanidhi Stalin and Woody Allen back home, it is Harvey Weinstein in USA.  But the way Harvey Weinstein is fighting the appeal is innovative and funny - by resurrecting ‘M’ of James Bond fame, in a video.

Here is a modified screengrab from the video clip.

Back home in TN Udhayanidhi Stalin complained in October regarding refusal of Tax Exemption to movies produced or distributed by his company Red Giant Movies.

Woody Allen did not release his movie Blue Jasmine because he did not want to display the mandatory anti-tobacco text in scenes where characters smoke.

Now it is the turn of Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Co., who is fighting MPAA for rating his latest movie Philomena with an ‘R’.  While MPAA says the ratings are just guidelines, Weinstein claims it affects the decision of movie goers in the US Midwest and South.

Philomena is the story of a woman (Judi Dench) who seeks out the illegitimate son she was forced to give up years ago.  The movie has been praised by the critics, especially the acting of Dame Judy Dench.

The controversy over the rating of Philomena is because there are two ‘F’ words in the film - seems to get a ‘PG-13’ rating only 1 ‘F’ word is allowed.

So what did Harvey Weinstein do?  He has shot a little video A Special M.essage, featuring Judi Dench as ‘M’, despatching an agent to deal with MPAA.
LOL.

The trailer of video is here.  We have to wait for the full video to be released on 13th Nov.  Link below.

Hilarious!  Agent 002, Orange men working for Wonka, Kill Adam Sandler (though Jack and Jill is really atrocious).  Look at Steve Coogan.

BTW, they won the appeal to the MPAA to reduce its rating in the US from R ("restricted") to PG-13, which means under 17s will be able to see it without a parent or guardian.

"No one does it better than James Bond", said Weinstein in a statement.
