Today is the culmination of the day of (one of, also the major days) when Good wins over Evil. Today is traditionally the day when Tamil people practice it as the day to start new ventures, of a day of voyage of learning, and of reaching towards success.
On this day, it is time to set forth, by me, to actually do what I want for this blog in the next few months, till the Tamil New Year in April 2014.
So here it goes:
There is no big Tamil religious occasion to divert my attention till the Tamil New Year day in April 2014. If anything has taught me about Google PR in the last couple of months is that a spurt in readers, doesn’t automatically tally to improved PR. If that was the only criteria, consistently hitting heavy would have got me that. OTOH, original content has been the hallmark of monkeyshines. So, neither of the factors are hurting my blogs chances of getting to Google PR 5+. It is something else, and it has to be found out - by me, by thinking out the solution, to improve the Google PR to atleast 5 in the next 6 months.
The second is ofcourse the initiative in MS Excel to deliver an Amavasya Tharpanam Sankalpam Generator - without using macros - though macros are just a technique to deliver the results more quickly, efficiently, I want to nail down the formulas to calculate the thithi, nakshatrams etc., once and for all. There is an inherent problem in plugging them for all over the world, as the Northern and Southern hemispheres have different seasons - but my quest is to do it for the Northern hemispheres. That involves using the ephemeris tables and getting them into sensible data for use in sidereal times. Not an inhuman task, but which requires about 300 hours of thinking and another 100 hours to implement in an MS Excel sheet.
There is also developments in cloud computing which have enabled new techinques to deliver content. Once such is GoesApp which has potential to deliver specialized content from a blog like mine. Asked to review, I have been holding off for more than 2 weeks, as the major advantage of such an App keeps eluding me. My instincts tells me that I can leverage GoesApp into something which even its programmers haven’t thought of - but the idea just keeps slipping by. Which needs some more outside-the-box thinking, to nail it.
With India heading to the General Elections, the next six months are going to be hectic and exciting. My intention has always been to try and outthink or foresee the course of events - what is called political science. In that, I am, alas, a noob, not even a student. So it requires much thinking to do, to try and foresee where we are moving upto - in which economy and industrial situation also plays a part. Tough ask!
Last is the engaging and always entertaining field of sports - specifically cricket, where India is heading for a boom or bust. With the latest drubbing by Australia in the 1st ODI (300+ vs 230+ by India) - Indian cricket promises to be interesting, if not controversial. A subject which tends to be as charming as Indian politics - maybe because both are intertwined?
So, much thinking to do and blog about ………
