Sachin Tendulkar dominates sports media too

It is nothing new for a Sports headline to scream out the name of Sachin Tendulkar, but yesterday and today have been different.  The headlines were not about Sachin Tendulkar’s latest prowess on the field, but that we have one last chance to see the master batsman wielding the bat.

If Jonathan Agnew rated ‘Sachin Tendulkar as the best cricketer of his era’ in BBC, Anthony Pinshaw of Fox, Australia, detailed the dilemma of Aussie fans - torn between wanting their team to win and hoping to see a master in action.

Meanwhile Vic Marks commenting on Guardian on Sachin’s hunger or passion for Cricket, recalls when Sachin debuted, Margaret Thatcher was prime minister and Graham Gooch had just been appointed captain of England.

That Yorkshire-born honorary Indian, Geoffrey Boycott, writing in The Telegraph argues that Sachin Tendulkar the batsman has no weakness - at all.  He adds that Tendulkar is one player who has maintained his dignity throughout his career.

There is absolutely no doubt that Sachin Tendulkar is one of the master batsmen the cricket loving public will ever see.

Another undeniable fact is the cricket lovers have never had it so good over the last 10-15 years or so.  Just think about the great batsmen we have had the opportunity to watch:
  • Sachin Tendulkar
  • Rahul Dravid
  • Virendar Sehwag
  • VVS Laxman
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq
  • Brian Lara
  • Mahela Jayawardene
  • Kumar Sangakkara
  • Greame Smith
  • Jaques Kallis
  • Ricky Ponting
  • Matthew Hayden, and of course,
  • Kevin Pietersen (I don't want to be left out of my nephew's Deepavali list)
:-P

Soon we will hear anew calls for awarding Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar, but will there be an even bigger better tribute?  A Google Doodle on Sachin Tendulkar?
:-D
