Pakistan kills 5 Indian soldiers, Nawaz for Defence cuts

Within 2 days of the call to India by the Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif to cut Defence Expenditure, his Army has killed 5 Indian soldiers.

Neutral observers have long been saying that no civilian PM (or a civilian President) of Pakistan has control over the rogue Pakistan Army.  For those who disagreed with them have had their face slapped on Monday, when the Pakistani soldiers intruded into the Indian territory past midnight and ambushed the Sarla post on the Indian side of the Line of Control.

Nawaz Sharif is on a tour of Saudi Arabia and he was speaking to Pakistani journalists in Jeddah on Sunday, when he called for cuts in Defence spending by both the countries.

Within a day and half, the scoundrels who make up the Pakistan Armed Forces have chosen to act in a brutal manner, creating anger, sadness and fury on the Indian side.  Sharif, I guess, must be smirking.

Reports suggest that the incident could cast a doubt on the resumption of the Indo-Pak dialogue process expected later in August 2013.  The dialogue process was put on hold following the beheading of an Indian soldier and another soldier's body found mutilated following the January 8 attack by Pakistani troops in the Poonch sector.

However, personally, it is hard for me to believe that this incident would once again postpone the talks.  After all, Pakistan attacking and injuring or killing Indian uniformed personnel is nothing new, and the Indian politicians seem to have developed immunity to it (except when a Parliamentary session is ON, like now).
:-P

Just have a look at the past month:
  • July 3: Pakistan fired on policemen who had gone to LoC in Sabzian, Poonch to collect the body of a Pakistani intruder killed in an IED blast on July 1.
  • July 8: Pakistani fired on troops trying to evacuate injured porters after 2 were killed in IED blast along LoC in Poonch.
  • July 12: Pakistani Rangers fired on Indian forward posts in Pindi belt along International Border, Jammu.
  • July 22: Pakistani troops opened small arms fire on Indian posts in forward area along LoC in Poonch.
  • July 27: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire twice in the space of 10 hours by firing on Indian posts in Poonch and Kathua.
  • Aug 5:  Pakistani Sniper fire injures BSF jawan at around 15:55 hours along International Border in Samba.
  • Aug 5, midnight - Aug 6, 2 a.m.: Pakistani troops enter India along the LoC, ambush a patrol and kill 5 Indian soldiers in Poonch.
No doubt there would be a clamour now for PM Manmohan Singh not to meet Nawaz Sharif in New York next month on the side lines of the UN General Assembly session.

But personally I would like ‘that’ meeting between the 2 PMs to go on!  To know why, read the series on Manmohan Jinx.
