SpywareBlaster 5.0. supports Google Chrome

The long awaited support for Google Chrome browser has been added to SpywareBlaster.  Brightfort, formerly JavaCool, have released version 5.0 of their flagship product SpywareBlaster with a nice, fresh looking interface.

Every time a PC is infected with malware and I am asked for help, one question pops up.  ‘Isn’t there a way to stop these threats being installed, instead of cleaning after?’.

The answer to that question, to an extent, is BrightFort’s SpywareBlaster 5.0.  SpywareBaster is a passive security protection tool which uses Kill-Bit technique to prevent a malware infection.  While other anti-spyware scan the memory and hard disk for possible infection, SpywareBlaster takes the prevention route.

A Windows PC installed with SpywareBlaster gets a list of malware identifiers and is told *not* to install any software carrying that ID (a CLSID).  So theoretically a computer installed with SpywareBlaster is malware proof.

By
  • preventing installation of ActiveX-based spyware;
  • blocking of spying or tracking cookies, and
  • restricting the actions of potentially unwanted or dangerous web sites,
SpywareBlaster keeps the system secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web.

The most exciting new feature in SpywareBlaster 5.0., is the protection added to Google Chrome.  The earlier versions protected only IE and Firefox (and their derivative) browsers.

While cookie protection is enabled for all 3 genre of browsers, in a first for Google Chrome, SpywareBlaster 5.0 has Script blocking to prevent those annoying advertisements (or malware).

The corresponding tabs for IE has ActiveX protection and in Firefox, a not so new feature (available since SB 4.5+) is the Site Preferences Fix.  A detailed explanation about Site Preference Fix is at BrightFort’s website.

BrightFort’s SpywareBlaster 5.0., is available as a freeware for Home use, a Pro version with automatic updates, and a Network version for corporates.

The freeware version is restricted in 2 crucial respects:
  • database updates have to be done manually; and,
  • protection is restricted to one user.
So, what are you waiting for?  Go, download, and enjoy malware free browsing with SpywareBlaster from BrightFort.  And when you are there, do consider a donation.
