Google Doodle on Ramanujan’s 125th Birth Anniversary

On the day when one supposed calculation was wrong - namely the doomsday prediction on Mayan Calendar - Google Doodles to celebrate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasan Ramanujan.  BTW today's Doodle celebrating Ramanujan is India specific, available only in Google India.

The maths wizard was born on December 22, 1887 in Erode, Madras Presidency (now Tamil Nadu) and his birthday is celebrated as National Mathematics Day by the proud nation.

The doodle pictures a boy, presumably Ramanujan, etching out geometrical figures and linear equations on the ground using a stick as other children watch on.

There are various formulas, equations and the numeric value of Pi to the 21st decimal point etched on the sand.  Of the 3 boys looking on, one holds a book, while another rests a foot on a ball.  One of the girl onlooker holds a book while the other holds a skipping rope.

The Google logo is made up of geometric figures - 5 right angled triangles, 2 circles, a semi-circle, a square and an arc.

Ramanujan with almost no formal training in pure mathematics, made significant and extraordinary contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions.

During his short lifetime, he died at the age of 32, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3900 results mostly focusing on identities and equations and nearly all his claims have now been proven correct.
