Comodo actually released a 5.12 version of their Comodo Internet Security (and also Firewall and Antivirus) about a month back (on 10th October 2012). The CIS with the full version number of 5.12.252301.2551 was, however, a limited upgrade release.
It was limited in the sense that CIS 5.12.252301.2551 release was targeted towards Windows 8 compatibility. So for non-Windows 8 users, the installed CIS 5.10 never alerted or prompted for an update.
But yesterday (or today India time), Comodo have released CIS 5.12.256249.2599, which is compatible with all Windows versions. Thus today, the installed CIS 5.10 prompted me to update. Which I did promptly.
So, what is new in CIS 5.12.256249.2599? Nothing for non-Windows 8 users, except that the CIS 5.12 now is the same one as installed on a Windows 8 machine. This version also fixes some bugs for Windows 8 users and that’s it.
Should you update to Comodo 5.12.256249.2599? It is always the correct and best choice to run the latest version of software, particularly security software (and the OS), especially when they are free.
In case you cannot update for some obscure and unbelievable reasons -

In case you cannot update for some obscure and unbelievable reasons -
- no internet connection; or,
- you’re away from your desktop, travelling,
- and the like,
