2-1/2 days back, Google rolled out new updates to the Toolbar PageRank. And this blog jumped one Rank from PR2 to PR3. Actually after all the hours and effort I put in over the last 3 months, I expected better - much better. Just shows how much effort is needed for serious blogging.

Of course, there is a lot of debate and outright scepticism on the value and meaning of Google PageRank (the Toolbar PageRank) today. But for practical purposes, and even SEO friendliness, there is no other quick, easy and visible way for lay people like us.
I mean who has the time or ability to spend an hour a day or 4 hours over the weekend on Google webmaster tools or Bing webmaster tools? Frankly some of the tools therein are too complicated to understand or implement. (Being on blogger platform some of the suggestions would be impossible to implement, I guess).
But then I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch - I still get confused whether Sine is Opposite / Hypotenuse or Adjacent / Hypotenuse.
So whether the purists and the knowledgeable like it or not, Google PageRank and Alexa Rank will be the tools for lay persons like me to measure our blogs.
Thus the Google Toolbar PageRank update on 08th November was a huge let down. The blog ranking went up by only one rank to PR3. What makes it feel even worse is the hue and cry over drop in PR which usually follows a PR update is absent. Seems Google this November has been generous with its PR hand-outs.
Almost every blogger claims a PR jump and no one seems to be whining about dropping PageRank.
