Well the Tropical Cyclone 02B Nilam made lanfall around 1830 hours IST and has quickly dissipated and moved inland.
The Tamil Nadu State government has been proactive during this storm unlike that of TC 06B Thane last year. Almost 4000 people from Mahabalipuram and adjoining areas south of Chennai have been evacuated for their safety.
By all accounts the district administrations have done a good job. Though there are bound to be storm damages, which will be tallied in the coming days, it seems the city and the state have got off lightly. Thank God!
Here is the video shot by from my apartment terrace at around 5 p.m., - almost the time when the Tropical Cyclone Nilam made landfall. The first part of the video till about 02:20 was shot by a nephew of mine.
The panoramic view from 02:20 minutes into the video is by me. Two full 360 views, once panning from left to right and then again from right to left.
And here is the Radar picture about 30 minutes before this post. Have fun!
