Google unveils 1GigaBit internet connection - Google Fiber

The web giant Google has unveiled its own ultra-high-speed internet service called ‘Google Fiber’.  It is a one gigabit per second internet service in the offing for Kansas, Missouri, USA.  Google Fiber uses optical fibre cables to deliver speeds far in excess of traditional web services.

The installations could start as early as September as per the website.  Google hopes to roll out the service to other cities (in the US) later.

Google Fiber's ultra high-speed internet and TV is aimed at surpassing those of current providers, a proven marketing strategy for Google.  Such high speed access will allow users to search live channels, Netflix, YouTube, and also record up to 8 channels of video.  There is a downside though - there is no phone service.

Google has opened up a 6-week ‘rally’ online for potential consumers to signup and vote on where the first fiber communities, or ‘fiberhoods,’ will be installed in Kansas City.  For $10 the potential customers get to register their home and if 50 neighbours signup, that area will be eligible to become one of the first ‘fiberhoods’.

Sigh!
To think how long it will take 1Gbps speeds to reach Chennai.

But then,

If Googling for Google Doodle with 2G wire,
gaggles the cache with oodles of Doodles,
will Google Googling with 1GB Google Fiber,
boggle the mac with boodles of dawdle, or,
Googling for Google will goggle and mangle,
while Google's joggle will idle in Boondoggle?

/giggle, giggle/
