The Internet Defense League #idl is being officially launched today. If you want a background of why you should join IDL, read my earlier post. Here are some excerpts from the recent mail from Internet Defense League to registered members:

The Internet Defense League is officially launching tomorrow, Thursday July 19th. This is our time to celebrate and tell the world we're here.
When FFTF organized the first online protest against SOPA (American Censorship Day) we had no idea it would work, and it took a lot of luck to pull it off. The League changes that. From today onward, if there's another terrible bill that would hurt the internet, we'll all be ready. Millions of users will see the alert and take action, on the front pages of sites they love.

There are many parties planned to coincide with the same day of the opening of the new Batman movie ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. As people look out for the new Batman adventure and the Bat Signal calling the Dark Knight, the official launch of the effort to unite the (not so powerful) Knights of the Internet against the Dark actions of the high and the mighty will also be unveiled.
Those who seek to terrorise and subjugate the ordinary users of the internet, just like the terrorist villain Bane tries in the movie The Dark Knight Rises, are going to feel pretty uncomfortable.
BTW Time Warner, the producer of the movie The Dark Knight Rises might not be so amused -
To get back to issue at hand, join the Internet Defense League today and follow the launch online at http://internetdefenseleague.org/launch.
The IDL is also looking for crowd funding and for something as low as $5 to $10, you get your own IDL member card. For $30 you get an awesome cat signal torch light.
So what are you waiting for - swing in to IDL website on your way to watch The Dark Knight Rises.

- either at the planned launch to coincide with their movie or,
- at the use of Cat Signal like the famous Bat Signal.
