For a Sailor to keep away from the Sea is an anomaly. Today, after some 5 years, even though I stay so close to the sea, the Bay of Bengal, I caught the sight of her for the first time. By chance, I happened to travel to North Chennai and on the way back, in the hot afternoon sun, from inside the air-conditioned car, driving on the Beach road, I had a magnificent view of the Marina Beach and the sea.
And I could hear her calling out to me. Now, some 8 hours later, I regret that I didn’t ask my friend to take the car into the parking and going out to greet her, the Sea, which had given me so much to be joyous about.
I have a feeling that I should make it thus to go out, enjoy her caress, and renew her blessings, once a week (if not every day).
The way to do it would be to work it into my weekend routine, as going out to meet the benevolent mother everyday is impractical, as it stands now.
Time to think about it!
