Animated Google Doodle celebrates Mother’s Day

Today 13th of May, the second Sunday of this month is the Mother’s Day, and in case you didn’t know it, slip out to buy a present for your mom.  If don’t live near enough to visit, pick up the phone, give her a call and tell her you love her - just what The Pirate Bay gently nudged the  Anons to do instead of hacking.
:-)

BTP, visitors to Google's homepage are treated to an animation where two "children" give their mother a hug and flowers.  The children are the two ‘O’s in Google while their mother forms the small ‘g’ in the Google logo.

Mother's Day is a celebration that honours mothers and the influence of mothers in the society worldwide, celebrated on the second Sunday of May.  The modern holiday is considered an American "invention," when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in America in 1908.  Jarvis began a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States, and succeeded in 1914.

But the commercialization of Mother's Day has disappointed many.  Anna Jarvis herself stated that she became disillusioned of the holiday because of the rampant commercialization soon after, in 1920s.

Again, as we’d seen with the Valentine’s Day Google Doodle, this Google Doodle too, seems missing from other Google homepages in the region.  It is not available in Google homepages of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh or Arab countries.  After India and moving towards Europe, it is available in Turkey but not in Israel, just like on the Valentine’s Day.
:-?

Whatever, best wishes to the moms world over.  Here is the snapshot of the completed Google Doodle.
