In SOPA strike solidarity with Reddit, Mozilla, BoingBoing, Tucows, Free Software Foundation and other sites, this site will blacked out for from January 18th evening - January 19th morning, in protest against SOPA and PROTECT IP (PIPA) laws, proposed in the US Congress and Senate.
update: (17 Jan 2011)
To that end, I’ve been testing on how to go about it. The test site ‘no-sopa-pipa.blogspot.com’ is now active. Here is a snapshot. If you want to use it on the eve of Jan 18th to show support to #SOPAstrike, you’re welcome to copy and use it.
Note: The blackout/going-dark is on January 18th, from 8am–8pm EST (1300–0100 UTC) which corresponds to Jan. 18th/1830 IST (6.30 pm) to Jan. 19th/0630 IST (6.30 am).
With the JavaScript, monkeyshine nutworks will be showing the layover from Jan 18th ~0630 IST till Jan 19th ~0630 IST.

- Wikipedia too joins in Sopastrike blackout
- Here is a simple JavaScript layover [http://sopablackout.org/] which is easy to implement - less hassles - the best location (as I found out) is just before the closing </body> tag in the blogger template.
