It is a reflection on our (my) life that waking up early on this Republic Day, the mind is curious to see the Google Doodle for the occasion.
:-D
Whatever you may think about it, I think this particular Doodle is cute, charming and evocative of the festive spirit of the day, when India officially threw out foreign dominance to emerge as a Sovereign nation. In the words of Granville Austin, "perhaps the greatest political venture since that originated in Philadelphia in 1787."
WoW!
So what if the Aussies are giving a pasting to our Cricket team down under? Those Ozzies are still under the British thumb, figuratively, and want to remain so, while we’ve grown out of their shadow. BTW today Australia day too! And here is the Google Doodle at google.com.au for the day
[Have a nice Australia Day, you ozzies, along with a mug of Foster’s no doubt!]
The British broke the back of the native textile industry during the Raj, but we have had our comeuppance when Tata took over the last national automobile brands of Britain and British Steel became Tata Steel (by way of Corus).
If the British sent their unwanted sons to colonize India 200 years ago, we’re hitting back now, by chasing unpleasant guys and gals we cannot stand to Britain - to be nursed there (Lalit Modi, Musharaff, et. al.)
LOL.
Cheers!
Long live the Republic!
Soon Die Intolerance!!
