Whatdayaknow? Just as soon as we become comfortable with one version, there is another. The worst part is that there is nothing fancy about the new versions - at least what I can find in taking a quick look. It still continues to hog a whopping 128MB of RAM with one tab open and an additional 6 to 8 MB for every additional tab.
However, without the release notes from the Official Mozilla Firefox site, we will not be able to tell exactly what they have achieved. But what we can be sure about is that many more security fixes and so, for the need of a secure browser, we have to go along.
BTW, the usual ftp site trick as blogged earlierdoesn’t works right now - as of this post. The official Mozilla Firefox site still claims Firefox ver. 8 is the latest and even the automatic download attempt by the browser claims ‘you have the current version’. (updated 12 noon IST, 20 Dec 2011).
So AFAIK, Softpedia isthe only link as of now where you can get the stable version of Firefox 9. So, head there and grab it - and say thanks to me! Also available from Mozilla’s FTP site.
;-D
My Sarcastic side stutters, ‘Now why did I waste time and watermark the image? The site URI is right there in the snapshot!’
