How to lose the Woe Cup

So, the big match is here, today and it *is* actually a game which no one knows how to call - including me. For the most unknown quantity in this game is the pitch.

No one, including the curator has any idea of how the pitch will behave. No match has been played here for some time - for over two weeks and the weather in Mumbai has changed during this time.

After the Sri Lanka versus New Zealand match on 18 Mar 2011 the ground and the pitch has had a nice long rest - time for it to rejuvenate itself. The normal Wankhede pitch is a real batters paradise.

But with the weather - I hear that it is humid with people constantly resorting to hankies to wipe away sweat - is going to be ciritical, because it might raise the dreaded dew factor.

In view of:
a) that India has not played here for some time, it would be a good toss to lose and bat second - which would give a fair idea of what the pitch would do.
b) the dreaded dew factor might come into play and make the life of the spinners bowling second, hell.
c) but looking at the hot and humid conditions, it would be better for India to win the toss and bat first - run Sri Lanka a little ragged in the hot sun.

Whatever happens, the Sri Lankan bowling attack holds no fears for India as every Indian player has played and scored against them -including Malinga, Murli and Herat.

The Indian attack, again holds no fears for the Lankans too, except that injury to Nehra might see Ashwin playing - who would be quite handful for the Lankans.

As in the last match, if India bat first and score 330, they would win. Anything less than 275 can be anybody's game. If the target is less than 260, it would be curtains for the team who batted so
poorly first.

If India manage to ease out the top three Sri Lankan batsmen cheaply, India would surely win.

Oh, Hell!
Here comes the news that Sreesanth is going to play in place of the injured Nehra. Now, the whole match is going to depend on Sreesanth's useless, spray-like-a-sprinkler bowling. Not a great outlook.
