Just watching the Times Now expose and the resulting interview today was pathetic. Mahatma Gandhi was known to say that when time is needed for contemplation, he would sit with his charka, the spinning wheel. I feel that if the Mahatma was watching India today, especially this telecast, he would have spun his charka so fast, it would have taken off, for such must have been his fury.
On the debate about allegedly smuggling, diverting food away from the poorest of poor in the largest state of India, the Uttar Pradesh, the food grains which were to be distributed through the Public Distribution System, the spokespersons of the both the national parties did a nice tango - very nice to each other and not offending their allegiances, but very, very heart breaking to the public, common people.
Both of them, especially the ruling party spokesperson took on Mr. Vinod Mehta personally - and the opposition spokesman was not very far off, although a bit circumspect. That is precisely the reason why I have termed them personally thus.
Though if I was a cartoonist, I could have drawn them as such without much problem, but terming them as such in a post might be construed as an equivalent issue. That is the reason why I’ve made the clarification - that the terming is intentional, as a blow back on their personal attack and that writers should have equal rights to term the public personalities as they wish - not only cartoonists.
That apart - what is that we are coming to?
I termed this period as ‘scam-o-lithic’, but it really seems that we are in one! That’s one blog post I wish hadn’t come through. Even worse, the politicians seem to be prepared now to spread the blame - they are now bringing bureaucrats into it! They suddenly seem to have realised that without bureaucrats (cooperating with the tainted politicos), it cannot have happened. Hence the first blame of honour should be of the bureaucrats.
Wonder what the PM, who himself was a blemish less bureaucrat in his days, think of this!
BTW there have been a lot of hits with my posts; did you notice?
One example is that I asked why Mr. Abishek Singhvi has been kept away as a Congress spokesman on Nov 20th and he has since been reinstated back on Nov 29th !!!
