Tackle corruption - Hit them where it hurts

We are in the midst of unprecedented allegations of corruption in the history of the nation.  The so called ‘KA-S-CO’ (Kargil/Adharsh - Spectrum - COmmonwealth Games) scams are a real headache for everyone.

Going by publicly stated figures, together the sum involved may be as high as Rs. 250,000 crores (~ $56 bn).  Almost six times the trade deals signed by President Obama during his visit.

To the government of the day because it paints the ruling party in a very, very poor light.

The opposition is also not out of water, with news emerging that its lame duck government in the state of Karnataka is alleged to be involved in a land scam of its own.

And for us the common people a heartburn like nothing before.

So, how to tackle this corruption once and for all?  The bottom line is money - fast-money and making fast-money always involves some kind of underhand behaviour.  We can keep spending several thousand crores more to hunt it down or we can do a Machiavellian item on them.

Simply remove the fruits of such corruption and sit back, enjoy as the fighting erupts.  If the original plan or idea was honest and not a scam, there would be nothing lost, except a loss suffered in a business venture.  True businessmen understand that - the risk factor - that a business can fail.

Whereas, if it is a scam, then the people who wanted to derive benefit and who paid bribes (apart from the business investment, which as explained above, was always at risk) would have no way to recuperate their bribes and would jump on the bribe taker to make good the loss.  That’s when the fun would start for us common, innocent people.

To put it out simply:
  • Cancel all the 2G spectrum licences and re-auction them - and the alleged low fee already paid being default and not to be refunded for costs incurred.
    • As for the present licence holders - let them win or let them ‘wave’ their money goodbye.
  • Raze the Adharsh building down and seize the assets of the builder for costs incurred.
    • As for the people who have paid for the flat - let them become ‘Adharsh’ martyrs with their money - fitting since they tried to scam in the name of martyrs and war heroes.
  • Raze the CWG village and seize the assets of the builder for costs incurred.
    • As for investors, it is a ‘game’ that they lost.
If the concerned are honest and not guilty, they should view it as a loss;  Businesses fail or a decision turns out to be wrong and people find means to swallow it and move on.

But if the concerned are guilty of corruption, watch the confessions come out - then prosecute whoever is guilty (if anyone is).  And next time, everyone will think twice before attempting something similar.
  • Don’t agree with it?
  • Do you think that I am off the rocker with a wonky idea?
  • Do you think that this is a crazy scheme that won’t work?
What do you think has been done in the Indian cricket’s IPL scam?

The IPL Kochi franchise was put on notice and threatened with disenfranchisement and the worms are crawling out.

So simple, so neat and so just.

So why not do it?
