Parody and Pardon me

Going through this review, promote for the book Craig Brown: The Lost Diaries , I was stuck by the thought that many of this blog readers haven’t understood the purpose or point of this blog.

They are very quick to ‘point-out’ offence (not to ‘take-one’, presumably because this blog isn’t so widely read yet) that might be taken because of the language, the point made or the target of the thrust. And I’ve bowed to these concerns of my well wishers, every time.

I do let go a few choice cusses, when it is most appropriate, but as I blog, I admit that I have evolved.  I’ve become more mindful of the language, in the tone and tenor of the posts.

I still hope that I can be as good a writer as the worthies in the book.  Mocking someone is a very hard job – try it and you’ll see how hard it is.  Just try to mock me, for example.

For the rest, ask me if I care.
