I love Aussies (my Cockatiels, that is)

updated with the photo of eggs on 23 Oct 2010

The Aussies might finally wake up to racism against Indians and act against it, but I have only love for the Aussies, especially my Cockatiels.  They don’t talk, don’t do tricks, are not domesticated, but all the same, they are cute.  And after almost 3 years, the female has laid eggs.

Here they are nesting inside the mud pot provided as ‘nest’ in the cage.  She has laid 3 eggs till date, one on 16th, second on 18/19th and the third on 21st.  I am hoping at least 2 of them will hatch.  Fingers crossed.

The aggressive female above,     here you can just discern the male by her side

and here he is out posturing - to frighten me away, and the eggs (lit up with a torch)

Let me try and get snaps of the eggs when they come out to feed. (Photos taken with my cell phone Nokia 3500 classic)

  5. I found that my cockatiels didn't like anything inside the pot - but others say some hay inside helps; so No, I didn't put anything inside the pot. The eggs did hatch and cute little ones did emerge - though they were ugly till the feathers grew up. Follow up posts at:
