Sunil Gavaskar should coach Rohan; Not blabber on TV

I am watching the ongoing (as of this posting) cricket match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Victorian Bushrangers and was stuck by the commentary by Sunil ‘sunny’ Gavaskar.

I’ve been listening/watching to commentary of cricket matches for last 33 years or so (listening when it was on Radio) and have never seen a commentator who is so intent on exposing a batsman’s (who is his own) weakness – and all those batsman’s weakness appears or is visible to the worthy only when they are non-Maharastrians or non-Bombay players.

Today, he kept harping how Murali Vijay had a problem playing the fast bowlers on his back foot – at least 5 times.  WTF?  Is he a commentator or a technical analyst?  Great work!  If he can see those, then he should give a piece of his mind to the Team (CSK/India) coach – not blabber on TV; Can you imagine Ian Chappell running down his team on TV?

I also notice that he is never this incisive when commenting on Englishmen or Aussies!  Why so?  Are only non-Maharashtrian Indian cricketers with technical faults?

He never liked non-Maharastrians in the team – including Indian team and it is carrying on in his commentary days.

Tell me, if he is so lord god and all of cricket,
  • Why couldn’t his ‘blessed’ son play decent cricket?
  • Why the papa didn’t correct his son’s cricket mistakes?
  • Or can’t he ‘see’ is son’s weakness?
  • Or can the papa see errors ‘only’ in others (read non-Maharashtrians) game?
That other ‘Maharashtrian’ Ravi Sasthri is also falling into the same trap.  You should just listen to the two worthies waxing eloquent when ‘their’ team or players or playing and talking snide when others are on.

Whereas, you can never say that about that good man ‘Sanjay Manjrekar’ – a Maharashtrian, he is very, very decent and a ‘real’ cricketer.  He just said something like ‘South Indian cricketers rely on their skill more than like some one like Mike Hussey who bludgeons with his physical strength’ – thoughts, but productive thoughts without insulting anyone or exposing one.
