It is no more surprising that we are a poor nation in sports. Not that I can state that we are a ‘sporting’ nation – on which the jury is out, but to snub a coach during photo session with a medallist is totally unbecoming of a minister.
I had begun to admire Mr. Gill when he stood up against the mighty in the case of Indian Hockey, but now, with this incident, I doubt whether he is worthy of it.
To mean disrespect to a ‘Dronacharya’ award winner … and to give that acclamation instead to a bureaucrat who happened to accompany the sportsman, is ‘heckuva job Gillie’. But, then, he is a fellow bureaucrat – the flock must stick together!
If I am ever the Prime Minister and if this Gilly bum is ever the sports minister and does a gaffe like this one, I’d call him in and give him –

- piece of my mind at least and
- two kicks where they would hurt the most.
