Honey, I super-bugged (only) the Indian kids

If the Indian farmers are using drugs to boost yields, can the bee-keepers be far behind?  It seems the bee-keepers are plying the bees with antibiotics to keep them healthy and the antibiotics find their way into honey.  They even tested 2 imported brands, one from Australia and one from Switzerland – and lo and behold, even they contained antibiotics.

It seems the Aussies and Swiss are not bothered about what the bloody Indians are fed – as long as their own are fed right.  I mean if there are standards for import into Europe, then shouldn’t the same standards apply for export out of Europe?

Knock, knock, Karel de Gucht are you listening?  Is your “promoting European values abroad, like sustainable development and human rights” applies only for trade-into Euro, for the Europeans or will you also act on it for Euro exports and the 3rd world people too?

No wonder India is hitting back with super-bug!

BTW on the matter of super-bug, instead of crying that it is some conspiracy to weaken medical tourism in India, can’t the hospitals be identified and bio-cleaned with bleach and UV radiation?  Or is that too costly?

update:  Even US farmers are drug pushers – last paragraph added.

It seems the US Congress will be debating stricter controls on use of antibiotics in farming, while the FDA is poised to issue stricter guidelines on livestock.  Off the top, it would seem that I owe the Indian farmer an apology, for slamming him for a what appears to be an universal trait – but the fact is fact – the farmers are tuning us unto junkies and bug breeders.
