Why I prefer en-GB to en-US

From the year 1999 till this year, there have been a total of 12 Scripps National Spelling Bee in the US, one every year.  Of the 12, eight have been won by Indian-Americans.

  • Nupur Lala (1999),
  • George Thampy (2000),
  • Pratyush Buddiga (2002),
  • Sai Gunturi (2003),
  • Anurag Kashyap (2005),
  • Sameer Mishra (2008),
  • Kavya Shivashankar (2009), and
  • Anamika Veeramani (2010).

Be they be Americanized and use en-US, I prefer the British English and the spellings rather than the American versions.  This does cause problems because most IT programs and coding use the American spellings like ‘color’ and ‘center’; but I prefer the British.

Whatever is my personal preference, this new spelling of School is taking it too far.

I mean, I can understand something like this in China,

or in Japan

or even in definitely back home,
