Google’s Schmidt approves nom-de-plumes

The operative word is ‘OF’.  He hasn’t approved of Max Madrasi or my views or even my presence in the webworld, but he has warned  about exposure on social use of media.  That there is so much personal information revealed by people’s participation in the social sites.

The BBC article at [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11009700]

It is very opportune in that I warned a neighbour’s son, just yesterday, about posting his family photos on Facebook.  Ask me if he did care, even though he was using my PC, the photos were ones already available to him online, from his cousins.  My only thought was that, thank god he wasn’t my nephew.  That gave raise to the thought that what my own nephews are doing in webworld ?

Back to the point, Google boss, it seems had gone as far as to suggest that teens should be entitled to change their names once they mature, to escape their cyber past.

I myself am just a teen in cyberworld, being 1st exposed to computers in 96/97 with DOS 5. (I remember being taught how to use WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3 I can never forget Mr. M teaching me A-G : Align, Go the commands to print in Lotus).

Hence my use of a nom-de-plume is quite alright – by applying reverse logic – since I am also a cyber-teen.

If using real names exposes one, then using a nom-de-plume is a security feature for me.  Now that Google boss has approved of me, no more snide remarks (by PM) please.

You too get your own web name (& let me know).
:-D
