It would be one more headache for the Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh. He already was at his wits end with Bio-Tech, Genetically Modified Brinjal when the short sighted, rabid opponents carrying the day.
Though several of his ministerial colleagues wanted Bio-Tech in Agriculture, one of whom was the Agriculture Minister, Jairam Ramesh just couldn't pull it off.
Now that Wheat genome has been sequenced, the tool to splice and tweak the DNA sequence to produce sturdier, robust and high yielding varieties is in hand and research can begin.
But will India’s home grown, 100% purely ignorant, anti-BT crowd ever relent? I have my doubts, especially when the anti-science crowd in the US had obtained a stay on stem cell research, our own desi idiots would try that trick too!
My wicked half is up to its tricks again – The reason for opposing Stem Cell research is that human embryos will be destroyed. If we extend that logic, AFAIK, out of 10 million healthy sperms ejaculated every single time, only one (or two) make it – does that mean these idiots are against sex?
