Of all the arguments I’ve heard, this takes the cake. The ruling Congress party has objected to the nationwide shutdown call by opposition because it would cause ‘hardship’ to the people. And why was the call given in the 1st instance? Because of the ruling party’s decision to raise and decontrol oil prices, which presumably will not cause ‘hardship’ to the people.
Then the sting in the tail. The spokesman Mohan Prakash adds that ‘when prices come down, the opposition raise a hue and cry and it helps the profiteers’. WTF! Pray tell me someone, how does howling about price rise helps the profiteers? And if his party is so sure that it is profiteering which is the cause of rising prices, what is his party doing about it?
I don’t know what his mother called him, but I sure know what I would like to call him.
On top of it, the smartypants asks why the issue could not be raised in Parliament? Well smart guy, why didn’t you take a dose of your own medicine?
Couldn’t the ruling party have discussed/debated the issue of decontrol / raise of oil prices in the above referred Parliament session? The sky wouldn’t have fallen if the price rise/decontrol decision of Jun 26th had been postponed till July 26th Parliament session.
I’ve heard of Goebbelian technique, but had never seen it in action by a main stream party, till today.
