Cow Power can produce electricity

A farmer in Northern Ireland has put his cow on a treadmill, coupled it to a generator and is producing about 2kW of electricity per 8 hours of exercise – and increases milk yield to boot.

And all villages and farmers in TN (& all over India) have cows and bullocks and are crying for electricity.  Why not a Government sponsored program to harvest this innovation?

Is Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy sources keeping his eyes open?
[BTW the Ministry doesn’t even have a website – must be a ‘new’ way to run a ministry].

Yeah, PETA and Maneka Gandhi might protest, but then, livestock in India have always been put to work as draught animals and this would be nothing different.
