Halt database development – UID, NIN, etc.

The Calls to halt England NHS patient database development presumably on the fears of maintaining confidentiality of such database. [http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8559045.stm]

We’ve to remember that such database would be covered under the ‘doctor-patient’ confidentiality rule and any breach would bring down the law on the culprits.  But even then, there is opposition to the move.

Here, in India, we are merrily going forward to collect and store complete profile of all citizens by way of UID and possibly even collect biometric details during the upcoming census (and another number called NIN)

This in the country where cops framing up someone if they can’t solve a case is notorious.

In Dec 2009, it came to light at Delhi High Court that cops framed a suspect for double-murder by applying group AB blood on the alleged murder weapon – because the murdered duo had blood groups A and B respectively.  So, per Delhi police, Blood  group A+ blood group B = blood group AB.
