As per a BBC report, “thick waist was a sign of a build-up of a dangerous type of fat around the internal organs”. With my BMI (Body Mass Index) at ~24.2, I knew I was within the Normal weight range, although near the borderline. Hence for the last month or so, I have been avoiding fattening foods, snacks etc. – not on any diet, just minding the calories.

But the report made me measure my waist and bloody hell, I am actually on the other side of the border by an inch or so. Seems I have to get into some sort of program. The report says safe waistline for

Horror of horrors.
In three years since this post, my waistline has grown by 2 inches - to 38 inches or ~97 cm. In 2010, if my waistline was out by 1 inch to that of South Asian safe limit, today my waistline is out by 1 inch to that of even Whites and Blacks.

Definitely time to do something about it.
Is it time for me to get six-pack abs? But then what do I do with my size 36 trousers?

- Women - All: 31.5 inches (80 cm)
- Men - Whites and Blacks: 37 inches (94 cm)
- Men - South Asians: 35 inches (90 cm)
