Shiv Sena's valid point in Regional Exams

Well the right wing  Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has a point.  First, let me state that I do NOT believe or adhere to the view that MLAs should only take oath in the declared 'state' language .  They should be free to take oath in any of the National languages (including English).

But they do have a point when MNS/SS write to SBI or anyone else recommending that local 'domiciled' people are to be given preference in recruitment.  Similarly, I support their stand during the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams in 2007 at Mumbai (in principle), but do NOT agree with the violence.

The reason is that these exams are conducted on regional basis, unlike All-India exams - like the IIT-JEE, CAT, All India Civil Service Exams or Combined Defence Services Exams.

The purpose of such regional exams or even exam centres are (must) be just that, isn't it?  These all India institutions require or want regional representation - so why should people from one region be allowed to compete in another region? If you want a job, compete within your own region otherwise take an all India exam.

That said and done, I seem to remember that Bal, Raj Thackerays and their ilk didn't insist on this mumbai for mumbaikars and marathi manoos conditions during 26/11.  The NSG casualities were named Sandeep Unnikrishnan and Gajendra Singh.

Tut, Tut Messers Thackerays!
You want other Indians to lay down their lives for bambaiyas, but a bambaiya can't (shouldn't) put India first?
