Best Desktop RSS reader

Of late, I've been asked "How do I keep in touch with so much of news?"  The answer is simple.  I do it by using technology - by way of RSS feeds.

And for reading the feeds, I use FeedDemon.  Like everything else I recommend FeedDemon is free.  Every morning, I just let FeedDemon update the feeds and then quickly browse through them to get my news-fix.

In case you want to know what all I subscribe to - my current feeds are saved as attachments at my googlesite madrasnow .  You can download and use them and they are divided as follows:

1.  myfeeds.opml file for all feeds except for India news feeds.
2.  my india feeds.opml for India news feeds but without any Tamil feeds.
3.  my tamil feeds.opml which contain exclusively tamil feed links

To get them into FeedDemon, just install the application.  When it asks "subscription to some feeds?", select "none".  Then open the application, from 'File' menu, select 'Import Feeds', locate the 'x.opml' you've copied from my site and import all.  That's it.

Why FeedDemon?
There are many RSS readers out there.  From the online Google Reader to Browsers with RSS functionality (IE, FF, Chrome and Flock) and email clients (Thunderbird).

But then, I want my email client to be just that - an email client.

I want my browser too to be just that - a front end to view sites and that's it.

And an RSS reader, which will not intermingle with any of other, to get and feed them to me.  I also want the reader to provide an "offline" mode - so I can read the feeds 'offline' without any live internet connection. - FeedDemon meets all these criteria and it is free, simple and fantastic to use.

That's why!
