Malware Tech does not need a CalTech

This is a follow up post to the protection from Malware.  All the tools / utilities including the Anti-Virus listed in this site are 'free'.  They are either 'Opensource' or 'Freeware' or 'free for personal, non-commercial use'.  Some require you to register (for free) with a valid e-mail id to obtain your 'personal' licence.  But all are totally, absolutely free.  You do not have to suffer with a hustled copy of Norton or Mcafee anymore.

If you are unsure whether your PC's AV protection is 'on-access' or not, go to this website & download the EICAR test file.  As soon as you attempt to download, your AV should warn you.  Be sure to read the full page before you attempt download, because there is a disclaimer at :

Contrary to widespread belief, AV people DO NOT write malware.  They have better things to do with their life.  It is true that some people who were 'bad' earlier - years / months ago - are now writing security tools  - but they do not write 'malicious' code.  The web is a rich source of malware and tutorials (or anything for that matter).

Did you know that till last month an official US Government website had displayed for public access, complete & detailed drawings, blueprints and details of tools necessary to do a 'pokhran'?  The feck up happened because they put out all the captured documents from Iraq under FIO (Freedom of Info Act) and those blueprints were in there.  It sat there quietly for about 2 years before NYT pointed it out.  Don't ask me for a link to those pages - it has disappeared.

But out of academic interest, I can point out to a website which gives tutorials on how to build malware, just to show you how easy it is - to obtain knowledge.  [http://www.sirkussystem.com/].

Now be very careful because this website contains live code.  If you accidentally download any of them, then your PC is really TOAST.  A case of 'apna kuladi apne hi paav me' or is it 'haath me'?
