The brand new Firefox 2.0 is to be 'officially' released today (Tues night / Wed in India). But trust me to get an advanced copy. No big secrets, I just located the 'public' folder where Mozilla puts the file to download later today. And downloaded my copy of FF 2.0 ~ 5.7 MB.
The official site getfirefox.com still will lead you only to FF 1.5.0.7, so if you want to show off & feel good get it from this page :
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/win32/en-US/
What's new ? : Now you can start from where you left off if the system crashes. Great isn't it? Too bad that 'Opera' has had this feature for about 6 months now. Now that the 'effe-effe' part is over, time to go the other big news 'aiyee' .
I am about a week late - IE7 was released last Wednesday. IE7 is great - tabbed browsing, anti-phishing, built-in Google search bar etc... In fact, you can throw out Google / Yahoo toolbar / Maxthon etc. - they are are 'inside' IE7 now, and yeah, they've renamed it 'Windows' IE instead of 'MS' IE.
Great isn't it ? Notice the 'Quick Tabs' - allows to view a thumbnail like picture of all the tabs currently open.
Too bad FF has had most of it for about 2 years now & Opera for about 6 months.
Oh, before I forget - you can only download IE7 by using IE (5/5.5/6) - the site will reject you if you use FF/NN/Opera/Safari.

- The 'con' s ? (the 'aiyee' part ? - 'aiyee' like the Tamil 'aiyyo');
- You can't use IE7 if you are still on W2K or even on XP or XP/SP1
- It will run only on Win XP with SP2 or Win2003;
- Moreover MS has made WGA check compulsory. You can download IE7, but while installing, it will check for WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage). If your copy of XP is not genuine, it will simply not install.
